Genesis Legal was founded on one principle: the client comes first. Honest counsel. Relentless advocacy. Communication you can count on — every step of the way.
We take fewer cases on purpose. That means every matter gets direct attention from our founder — not an associate, not a paralegal. Deep preparation, intentional advocacy, and results-driven representation through resolution or verdict. Based in Miami, we represent clients across all of Florida.
Genesis Martinez is a Miami-based civil litigator who represents individuals, businesses, and entrepreneurs in personal injury, civil disputes, tax controversy, real estate, and business matters in English and Spanish. From the firm's Miami base she represents clients statewide — Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, and beyond.
An award-winning civil litigator with over six years of experience in state and federal courts. Genesis served as a Trial Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice, Civil Tax Division, an appointment earned through the Attorney General's Honors Program, one of the most competitive entry-level attorney positions in the federal government. At the DOJ she represented the United States in civil tax litigation in federal district and bankruptcy courts, managing and litigating over 30 cases simultaneously involving tax refund actions, foreign bank account reporting violations, and fraud discharge exceptions.
Following her time at the DOJ, where she received a Special Commendation Award for outstanding service, Genesis clerked for U.S. District Judge Beth Bloom in the Southern District of Florida, one of the nation's busiest federal courts. She then joined Akerman LLP, one of Florida's largest law firms, where she handled complex commercial and international litigation including contract disputes, business torts, defamation actions, class actions, consumer protection matters, insurance coverage disputes, and cross-border disputes with international evidence gathering. She handled cases from start to finish for corporate, international, and high-profile clients. Fluent in English and Spanish, she has served clients across the U.S. and internationally throughout her career.
Genesis is recognized by Super Lawyers as a Florida Rising Star (2025–2026), an honor awarded to only the top 2.5% of eligible attorneys in the state through a rigorous multi-phase peer review process. She is listed by Best Lawyers as 'One to Watch' for Commercial Litigation (2024–2026), one of the most respected peer-review publications in the legal profession. She is recommended by Legal 500 in the U.S. Dispute Resolution guide for Dispute Resolution and International Arbitration, a global directory assessing attorneys through independent editorial research, client feedback, and peer review. She is also a 2025 Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) Pathfinder and a 2025 D.C. Capital Pro Bono Honor Roll Nominee.
Genesis graduated Magna Cum Laude from Florida International University College of Law, ranking 9th in her class of 118, where she served as Articles Editor of the FIU Law Review and published a scholarly article on Fourth Amendment law and rideshare technology. She practices in English and Spanish.
We give you the legal opinion. Not the one that keeps you paying us. If your case is weak, we tell you. If settling is smart, we tell you. If fighting is right, we fight.
No dropped calls. No surprise filings. You hear from us constantly — in the language you prefer. English or Spanish. You deal directly with the founder — not a call center.
We take fewer cases than most firms our size. That is deliberate. It means you get the founder, not an associate. Your case gets the preparation it deserves.
Six-plus years of litigation across personal injury, civil disputes, tax controversy, real estate, and business matters. Federal court background. Insurance-defense insider knowledge. We walk into every matter knowing what the other side will do.
"I started this firm because I wanted to build what I couldn't find elsewhere — honest advice, relentless advocacy, and an attorney who actually picks up the phone."
At a large firm you are a file number, handed to a junior associate, updated by a paralegal, and lucky to get the partner on the phone. Here you work directly with Genesis on every matter, start to finish. We take fewer cases on purpose, so yours gets the preparation and attention it deserves. You will never be just another number, and you will always talk to your attorney, not a call center, not an intake rep. That is the boutique difference.
Genesis Legal is a boutique Florida law firm based in Miami. We deliberately take fewer cases so every matter gets direct attention from the founder, not an associate or a paralegal. We handle personal injury, civil litigation, tax controversy, real estate disputes, and business matters statewide.
Yes. Being boutique by design means you deal directly with Genesis, not a call center, not a junior associate. You get partner-level attention and constant communication, in English or Spanish.
Absolutely. From our Miami base we represent clients across all of Florida, Orlando, Tampa, Jacksonville, Fort Myers, Naples, West Palm Beach, Sarasota, Tallahassee, Gainesville, and beyond, in state and federal courts statewide.
Genesis previously represented insurance companies and litigated for the United States at the DOJ. She knows exactly how the other side evaluates, values, and fights a claim, and she uses that playbook on behalf of clients.
Free 30-minute consultation. Bilingual. Boutique attention from the founder — every case, every call.
